wood engraving on paper, edition of 175

1970 Gift of Kanawha County Public Library

Born in Tarrytown, New Tork, Rockwell Kent studied architecture at Columbia University before pursuing his interest in art. He studied art with William Merritt Chase, Robert Henri and Kenneth Hayes Miller. Kent became a highly skilled painter and printmaker. Kent's prints feature precise, deliberate lines with dramatic areas of light and dark. He expresses ideas about life and meaningfulness in much of his art.
